Between 1985 and 1987 Irizarry made guest appearances on several television movies and series episodes. In 1987, he joined the cast of daytime soap Santa Barbara as “Dr. Scott Clark” until he left in 1989 and again appeared on a variety of television soaps and series including Murder She Wrote, Disappearing Act and Beverly Hills, 90210. Irizarry was on a few episodes of One Life to Live and The young and the Restless, but his major role has been “Dr. David Hayward, a role he originated, on All My Children. He first appeared on the long running soap in 1997 and was let go in 2006 due, according to producers, to a lack of story line. “Dr. David Hayward” was brought back to All My Children in 2008 and Irizarry has continued in the role since.
