In 2000, Farrell was cast in his first lead role as Private Roland Bozz in Tigerland. His next American films, American Outlaws (2001) and Hart’s War (2002), were not commercially successful, but his 2003 films, including Phone Booth, S.W.A.T., and The Recruit were well-received box office successes. His next roles were in Minority Report (2002), Bullseye in Daredevil (2003), Intermission (2003), and in the title role of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone’s 2004 biopic Alexander.His next film was 2005’s Academy Award-nominated The New World, another historical epic which was met with mixed reviews. 2006 brought more success in Farrell’s career, as he appeared in the film Miami Vice. Taking him to 2007 in Cassandra’s Dream. For the role in In Bruges, (2008) Farrell won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. Shortly thereafter he appeared in Kicking It (2008). On February 17 2009, it was reported that Farrell had signed on to play Matt Sawyer in Scottish Bedmates, a film that documents the torrid and controversial romance between William Wallace and Sawyer.
