In 2005 Hansis joined the cast of As the World Turns, a soap which first aired in April of 1952. He took over the role of “Luke Snyder” from actor Jake Weary. In the spring of 2006 “Luke” came out as a gay man and eventually became romantically involved with character “Noah Mayer” who is played by Jake Silbermann. ATWT airs on CBS and the station stands solidly behind the show and this particular storyline. CBS went so far as to team with GLAAD and create a PSA encouraging viewers “to be an ally and a friend” to gay people.
