After graduating from the University of Virginia as a Foreign Affairs and Economics major, McKenzie moved to New York to fulfill his passion to be an actor. He appeared in many stage productions at the Williamstown Theatre Festival before moving to LA. McKenzie landed the role of “Ryan Atwood” on The O. C. and was with the show from 2003-2007.
After The O. C. ended in 2007 McKenzie appeared in the 2008 film drama Johnny Got His Gun and the 2009 film short The Eight Percent. He is now starring in the new TV series Southland. It is rumored that he will have a part in the film The Stanford Prison Experiment which is in pre-production.
